Mortgage rates staying above 5%

Mortgage rates burst past the 5% mark for a 30-year fixed-rate loan late in May, peaking at an average of 5.45% on Thursday. It was the highest level reached by mortgage rates that year, but on Friday they fell back to 5.27%.
